St Mary’s is a Mercy School and every year we mark ‘Mercy Day’ (24th September) in a special way. This year we celebrated in style! A large crowd assembled last Monday, ‘Mercy Day’, for the Blessing and Official Opening of Páirc na Trócaire (Mercy Park) at the rear of the school. Fr Seán Henry, our school chaplain, led us in prayer and blessed the pitch. Sr Immaculata, a Mercy Sister and a former teacher at St Mary’s, cut the ribbon. The whole school went out to the new pitch at lunchtime for some Zumba dancing! A massive fundraising effort has been ongoing for the past few years to enable the development of our fantastic new all-weather pitch. Mr Ó Coigligh, our principal, thanked everyone who devoted time, effort and money to the project. We are all delighted that the dream has, at last, become a reality!
