The Crocus Project – Rooms 30 and 31

Fifty -two 6th Class pupils are taking part in the Crocus Project 2018-19, an initiative sponsored by Holocaust Education Trust Ireland. On 24th October, each pupil planted a crocus bulb in the grass area outside Room 15 in memory of one and a half million Jewish children who were victims of the Nazis in World War II.

The fifty-two yellow flowers will bloom at the end of January or the beginning of February 2019, around the time of Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January.

After Halloween, the pupils will read and study John Boyne’s novel, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, a story set in the 1940s focusing on the Holocaust and WWII.
