8:00am – An announcement is made on the RTE news Road Report that ‘a school in Trim
will be cycling to school today so traffic will be heavy’!
8:50am – Garda Cars, Dignitaries, Staff and Students arrive at two venues: Lidls and
9:00am – With their blue lights flashing and sirens going the Garda cars started the
cyclists from Long Term Car Park on their journey. At the same time cyclists
from Steeple Manor began their journey meeting up on the Ring Road.
Heading down past the Castle, then into Finnegans Way and up Emmet Street
all cyclists entered the school at 9:20am.
Deputy Ray Butler thanked all students and parents for their support in helping to save energy by cycling, walking and roller blading to school and then handed over to Susan Doorley from An Taisce who cut the ribbon on the new cycle shelter. Students then parked their bicycles in the new shelter.
