We were learning about lifecycle of the chicken at school and we were very lucky to experience the life cycle before our very eyes. Here is what has been happening in room 9 this month!
First we got some eggs from the farmer. We had to put them in an incubator for 21 days. The incubator kept them warm for 21 days. On the 21st day they started to hatch. We could see the eggs starting to wiggle.
They started to peck at the egg shell in the morning and after lunch they popped out of the eggs. Teacher put it on the visualiser and we saw them hatch from the eggs. 4 lovely chicks hatched- one was black and white like a penguin and three were yellow.
It was so much fun to watch. The chicks started to get fluffy the next day. We love listening to them chirping. We named them Fluffy, Cuddles, Flash (he is very quick) and April.
On Friday we brought them out to the field for a little run around. They were pecking on the ground looking for worms. They packed their bags and left on Friday evening and now they are living on the farm with lots of space to run around. We will have updates on how they are getting on during the year and they might even come back to visit when they are full size chickens!
