Underneath are the photos of Archie and his twin brothers George and Isaac. The 3 boys, sons of Paula and Pádhraic Naughton, were diagnosed some years ago with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
DMD is a life limiting disease and already all 3 boys are now wheelchair bound. The Join Our Boys Trust was set up to provide a home for the family that would be built to meet their changing needs and much more as their health deteriorates and also to fundraise for research to find a cure for DMD.
St Mary’s proposes to hold a ‘Dress Up Day’ on Friday 22nd October (our neighbours at St Michael’s will participate in this fundraiser as well). The pupils will have an opportunity to ‘dress up’ (if they wish) and bring in a little contribution towards this very worthy cause.
Paula and the twins will make an appearance at our Assembly on Oct 15th to introduce themselves and to thank everyone in advance!
In recognition of the fundraising efforts being undertaken, some fabulous garden ‘stick sculptures’ have been donated to both schools by Jim McKenna from Cavan. They will be a great addition to our school garden. A competition will be held to decide on the names of the ‘stick men’.
