Parents’ Association/Coiste na dTuistí

St. Mary’s Parents Association is long established within the school.  The association is a representation of parents/guardians of children at the school and acts as a liaison between the school and parents.  It works to support the students and staff in activities and also is a vehicle for raising matters of interest and concern to the school.  We maintain regular contact with Mr O’ Coigligh and the work we do is for our children’s benefit.  The association is affiliated with the National Parents Council for Primary Schools in Ireland.
On an annual basis the association is involved in activities such as:
Administration of Pupil Personal Insurance Scheme
Personalised Christmas Cards
Light refreshments for First Communions, Graduations, Open Evenings, Open Days and Sports Day
 Book Rental Scheme
– Fundraising activities such as bun sales, theme days and skip-a-thons
– Meitheal – Helping teachers update art work/scrap books – Actively involved on Committees within the school : Digital School, Be Active, Global Citizenship, Healthy Eating and the Gael Brathach Committee.  all with the aim of helping the school achieve and maintain their Green School status.
Over the years the funds raised by the Parents Association have been used to buy new books for the  library, to purchase white boards, visualisers, sports equipment, music equipment,  android tablets, covers and trolley for same.  In September 2016 the Parents Association presented a cheque to the school for €6,500 towards the MUGA fund.

The Parents Association can be contacted through Helen in the office in the school or  through the messenger link on the Facebook page. We gladly invite parents/guardians to become involved to ensure our children continue to enjoy the events that are held by the Parents Association. You do not have to be a committee member to become involved.
