Today is the Feast of St Bridget, the second patron saint of Ireland. The 6th Class pupils in Room 30 visited Ms Rickard’s and Ms Dully’s classes in the afternoon. The senior pupils helped the younger girls and boys to make St Bridget’s Crosses. The finished crosses looked amazing and everyone enjoyed the experience. Here are some photos………
Congratulations to our representatives at the Credit Union Schools Quiz in Drogheda last Friday night. Despite some tough questions, the girls performed to a very high standard and represented themselves, their families and their school with distinction. Unfortunately, neither team managed to make it through to the next round, but as the expression goes, “it’s not always about winning!” Maith sibh a chailíní!

We are having great fun using the Beebots in First Class. A Beebot is a floor robot and we have to enter commands in order for him to move around the floor. He can change direction, moving left, right, forward … Continue reading
Last Friday, 6th Class pupils travelled to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition at the RDS. It was 10.15am by the time we got to the venue and already there were thousands of students and teachers from all over Ireland touring the arena. Hundreds of projects were on display and we got a chance to chat to some students about their work. Some of us managed to get to some of the shows, including the ‘World of Robots’. The ‘Ministry of Science’ show was excellent….the sound of the hydrogen/oxygen balloons exploding was deafening! In no time at all it was 1.10pm and we were ready to hop on the bus again. Lá iontach a bhí againn!
St Mary’s Book Club is open to 4th, 5th and 6th Classes. We meet once a month to discuss the book with Ms. Coakley. Our most recent book was ‘The Butterfly Lion’ by Michael Morpurgo and we gave our thoughts on our favourite and least favourite characters. Opinions were divided, with some finishing it in record time and others not liking it enough to even finish it. But everyone was allowed to voice their opinion. Our next meeting will be in January when our next book will be announced and all eligible students are welcome. I would encourage all who love stories and reading to drop in!

6th Class pupils were at a pantomime today. We saw Aladdin at the Mill Theatre in Dublin. There was plenty of laughter, chanting and singing at the show. After the panto, we paused for a group photo and a bite to eat in McDonald’s. Lá iontach a bhí againn!
Aidan Gray visited our school today. He works with An Taisce. The pupils in 6th Class were delighted when he invited us to take part in a Science Energy Workshop. We learned about energy, electricity, the transfer of power, circuits and short-circuits. We even managed to do a few fun and energetic experiments!
A huge THANK YOU to all of the children and families who have taken part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. Room 9 is feeling really Christmassy as we collect all of the beautifully wrapped boxes from the children in St Mary’s this year. There is still time to send in a shoebox if you wish. Tomorrow (Thursday 9th of Novemeber) is the last day for dropping in boxes. There will be lots of little smiling faces around the world this Christmas. Míle Buíochas!
Srs Paul, Bríd, Rose and Claudia came in for a special Assembly to celebrate Mercy Day and Sr Claudia’s Golden Jubilee. Debby made an amazing cake for an amazing achievement.
