An assembly to mark the beginning of Catholic Schools Week took place at St Mary’s last Monday morning. The theme for 2026 was “Normal Lives, Called to Holiness”. This theme provided us with an opportunity to celebrate the holiness that is already present in our classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, prayer spaces and, most importantly, in every person in our school community The assembly was presented in prayer and song by 5th Class pupils. Fr John and Sr Claudia joined with staff and pupils on what would be the final Catholic Schools Week at St Mary’s before our amalgamation with St Michael’s in the autumn. The hall was packed to capacity on Wednesday during our celebration of Grandparents Day. As a school community, we are very conscious of the vital role grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren and the special intergenerational bonds that exist between both of them. As we bid farewell to Catholic Schools Week at St Mary’s, we look forward to next year’s celebration of the Catholic faith in Scoil Naomh Pádraig.
