Horse Racing Ireland invited our 6th Class pupils to a HRI Racing Juniors Education Day at Fairyhouse Racecourse on 2nd April. The aim was to educate the younger generation about horse racing and to show them what happens behind the scenes. The pupils had a chance to meet and chat with a trainer and a jockey. They also visited the weigh room, examined a model fence and had a chance to sit on the steps of one of the stands that overlooks the racecourse. The most exciting part of the day was getting up close and personal with one of the racehorses in the glorious sunshine, and using the simulator! The pupils were delighted with and thankful for the goodie bags they received from the Fairyhouse staff at the end of the trip! Here are a few photos that were taken on the day!
