Music Festival Performance – Córfhéile na Scoileanna 2024
Córfhéile na Scoileanna is the biggest non-competitive music festival for school children in Ireland and it took place in the National Basketball Stadium in Tallaght today (5th March). Our school banna, accompanied by the pupils in Room 30, participated in the event. Adults members of our banna, as well as our caretaker, Frank, who plays the guitar, also joined in on the action. Unfortunately Stephen, our ukulele teacher, had a prior engagement at another school and could not be with us. It was a great experience for everyone involved. To begin with, three tunes were played by the girls on their tin whistles – Mo Ghile Mear, Roddy McCorley and Maggie in the Woods. The audience and the other participant schools really enjoyed these tunes, and clapped along to the music. After that, the girls sang ‘It’s A Beautiful Day’ to the sound of their ukuleles, shakers and the cajon (a type of drum). This went down a treat with the assembled crowd. All the hard work that was done back in St Mary’s over the past few weeks paid off. The girls did themselves, their school and their families proud today! Bhí siad thar barr! Maith sibh a chailíní!
