Secretary: Natache Sadler St Mary’s Parents’ Association has been in operation for many decades and is affiliated with the National Parents’ Council for Primary Schools in Ireland.
The association comprises the parents/guardians of children who are attending St Mary’s and it provides a vital link between home and school. Members of the association maintain regular contact with the school principal.
A new association is formed (or renewed) on an annual basis at the Annual General Meeting. Informal meetings usually take place once a month and parents/guardians from every class in the school are encouraged to involve themselves in the association by attending meetings and by volunteering for the various activities organised by its membership.
Work undertaken by the association benefits children in the school. The association is involved in many activities including:
– the implementation of a programme of activities and fundraisers throughout the academic year – offering opportunities to discuss and disseminate information of relevance and interest to parents/guardians – providing a channel for communication between parents/guardians and the school – liaising with the principal, staff and the board of management in building effective partnership between home and school – participating in the school’s Meitheal Volunteer Group – providing representatives for numerous committees within the school, such as Digital Schools, Active Schools, Green Schools, Healthy Schools and Gaelbhratach
