Friendship Week

We are celebrating Friendship Week at school this week. So far, in Room 30, we have been writing poems about the importance of friendship, singing songs like “Brave” by Sara Bareilles and “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars, as well as performing random acts of kindness!

New Jerseys!

A massive “Thank You” to the proprietors of Kitchenwise.ie, a local family-owned business, for sponsoring our new set of jerseys! They look impressive and they are very comfortable to wear! Nothing can stop us now! We are also extremely grateful to our Parents’ Association who continually fundraise on our behalf. In 2016-17, the efforts of the PA enabled us to purchase countless valuable resources for PE sessions  and for our extra-curricular sporting activities! Míle buíochas!

Rooms 16 and 18 on School Tour

Third Class girls from Rooms 16 and 18 went on school tour to Funtasia Waterpark in Drogheda on Wednesday 28th June. They spent two hours in the Waterpark, where they had great fun swimming and experiencing the challenging water slides. After lunch they went dancing and spent time doing karaoke in one of the party rooms.

Saying Goodbye!

Today, the Junior Infant pupils said “goodbye” to the 6th Class pupils by singing “May God Be In Your Heart” to them. We also sang a fond farewell to Mrs Beggy and Ms Flattery. A few tears were shed along the way!

Meath Primary Schools’ Track and Field Event

The annual Meath Primary Schools’ Track and Field event took place on Wednesday, June 14th 2017.  Sixteen pupils from St Mary’s School participated in the events which included sprints (Sara Harten, Anna O’Hare, Bláthnaid Vaughan, Vanessa Edosa), ball throw (Ciara Ryan, Leah McMahon), long jump (Leanne Conlon, Niamh Mahon), middle distance (Rebekah Clavin, Aoibhinn Diamond, Holly O’Donnell, Emma Gibney) and relays (Cliona Walsh, Sarah Forde, Grace Vaughan, Emma O’Neill).

The girls represented both themselves and St Mary’s very well with Sara Harten (Fourth Class), Aoibhinn Diamond (Fifth Class), Vanessa Edosa and Emma Gibney (Sixth Class) making the semi-finals and finals. The finals took place in the afternoon in very sunny and humid conditions.  Despite the heat, the girls ran very well and Vanessa powered home to win a gold medal. Well done, girls, on another great day at the races!
